BOB KUHR MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
The Bob Kuhr scholarship is given annually to a high school senior football player from both Lakeville North and Lakeville South. The award is intended to be awarded to former LFA participants who have dedicated themselves to their teammates and their community while participating in high school and preparing for college.
Bob Kuhr was a long time member, coach and volunteer of LFA who passed away unexpectedly in 2006. The Bob Kuhr Memorial Fund, in conjunction with LFA, set up this scholarhsip fund in honor of Bob's memory and the scholarships are funded completely by generous donations from our members each year.
Bob's contributions to the youth in our community and his generous spirit were treasured by many and he is sorely missed by those who knew him and were touched by his personality. There is nothing that Bob would have treasured more than knowing that he is able to continue to contribute to the youth in our community some way.

Many people say they just want to be remembered with a smile after they die.
Lakeville's Bob Kuhr never had to worry that anyone wouldn't.
He touched many lives in Lakeville when he was alive and now they're trying to give something back to him.
Many of his close friends organized a golf tournament and dinner at Legends Golf Club on June 17 to raise money for the Bob Kuhr Scholarship Fund.
The event also featured a silent auction that included a VIP night with the Lakeville South football team that raised almost $500. There were baskets of wine, lawn services, golf passes, Twins and Wild tickets and many other items offered by members of the community.
The biggest prize was a week's stay at Orange Lake Country Club in Orlando, Fla.
"Very fittingly and very emotionally this was won by a lady who has been battling cancer recently and wasn't sure she could make it to the event," Kuhr's longtime friend Jeff Zellmer said. "There was a fairly large amount of applause and a few tears when her ticket was announced."
Kuhr was active in the community particularly in the Lakeville Football Association, the Lakeville Baseball Association and the Lakeville Basketball Association.
He coached all kinds of sports for years and also volunteered quite a bit for extra duties.
"Bob was always the type that never said no whenever a favor was asked and many people still owed him a favor when he passed," Zellmer said. "He had a lot of IOUs built up."
The unexpected death of Kuhr, who was seemingly in excellent health, stunned many members of the community and his family.
Kuhr left behind two sons, Ben, 13, and Dane, 8.
"The community really wanted to show his kids and family what kind of guy Bob was and how many lives he touched while he was alive," Zellmer said.
And show them they did. More than 130 people attended the golf and dinner. Many more people donated items to the event.
Tradition Companies, who manages Legends, donated the course for the day.
The golf outing wasn't the only thing the community has put together for Kuhr.
The Bob Kuhr Memorial Fund, along with Lakeville Football Association, has put together a scholarship program for a Lakeville student athlete each year in Bob Kuhr's name.
