| "FOOTBALL…JUST FOR THE FUN OF IT!"
The Lakeville Football Association provides boys and girls the opportunity to participate in organized 1st & 2nd grade FLAG Football, and 3rd - 6th grade TACKLE Football. The purpose is to create a fun, positive experience where children learn the fundamental skills and concepts of the game while developing sportsmanship, self-confidence, and respect for others.
League rules and coaching philosophy puts the safety of the players first and foremost.

posted 05/30/2009 Lakeville Football Association has late registrations still open to the community. Based on field availability and the need to order uniforms, team numbers have now been finalized and the maximum number of participants for each grade level has been determined. If you are interested in playing this year, please sign up as soon as possible to secure a spot.
The tackle football program has grown from 42 teams in 2008 to 46 teams in 2009 with 12 teams at 3rd grade, 5th grade and 6th grade and 10 teams at 4th grade. The flag level will remain at 18 teams.
In order to make certain that we do not have rosters that are too large and limiting the playing time of the players, we need to set maximum registration levels for each age. If we reach the maximum participants, you can still sign up and be placed on a waiting list.
You can register online on our Registration tab.
2009 Registration Costs:
The past year has been a challenging one for the football association in terms of costs. Several previous expense items have increased and some new expense items have been forced on our association. The LFA Executive Board has spent a great deal of time on this issue over the past several months to try and keep the costs as low as possible for the families in our community. We are pleased to announce that we have the same costs as last year at $40 for our flag program and $110 for our 3rd-6th grade tackle program. For those that don't have older kids that went through the program years ago, the cost to play in LFA in 2002 was $175 per player. This is an issue that we have focused on for many years and our greatly increasing enrollment the last few years hopefully reflects the fact that we have tried to make football as affordable as possible in our community while still having a first class program.
2009 Season Dates
The season will begin in early August again, giving those who play summer sports an opportunity for a breather before football begins. The season will also end in mid-October as in previous years. For the players, there are typically 3-4 days a week that are dedicated to practice or games. Please check our 2009 Season Dates tab on our website frequently for updated information. LFA does not send out information and relies completely on email and our website to pass out information to members.
2009 Volunteers
Similar to the vast majority of youth sports associations, the LFA board is staffed by unpaid volunteer members of the community. The coaches and other parent volunteers are also unpaid volunteers that generously donate a great deal of their time to the kids in the community. Not everyone's schedule allows them to volunteer, but LFA is very proud of the fact that over 225 parents in our community dedicated their time last year to the kids in our community. Having an association that relies on 100% volunteers helps keep all of our costs as low as possible and it is a reflection of a true community effort to help the kids in our community. If you are thinking of volunteering in some way, please let us know when you register or let your coach know once you are on a team.
2009 Fundraising
LFA has always tried to stay away from asking participants to sell items or spend a great deal of time raising money for the association. We do not ask kids to sell candy, popcorn or other items in the community nor do we ask families to spend their free time selling concessions or other events. In 2009, we are trying a new program that is completely voluntary and has been met with great enthusiasm by the members who have checked it out. It is called the LFA Giving Site and is located on our website. Basically, our site is a link to many online stores that have agreed to donate to LFA each time you shop at one of their stores. Places like Expedia, Dick's, Barnes & Noble and many other stores have agreed to donate a portion of any purchase an LFA member makes back to LFA. There are no additional costs to our members to use these sites for shopping online. Check it out at our LFA Giving Site tab.
Miscellaneous
We get many questions about summer camps and other football items. The LFA web site strives to put as much information out the community as possible in these areas and we recommend that you take the time to browse the web site frequently.
